Roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa) Seedling

Roselle is a beautiful and useful garden addition. Plants grow between 3-5 ft tall and have striking red stems and leaf veins. The bright red calyxes can be used to make “zingy” (reminiscent of cranberry) tea, sauce, syrup, or jam. This is fitting as the plant was known as “Florida cranberry” in the 1890s.

Space plants 3-6 ft. apart to maximize calyx ripening; wider spacing encourages more abundant yields. Roselle thrives in warmer climates and will not withstand frost. Ensure your Roselle plants receive plenty of sunlight. The plant typically reaches harvest maturity in approximately 90-100 days.
