Turmeric, Hawaiian Red (Curcuma longa)

Hawaiian red turmeric is a distinct variety of Curcuma longa that is known for its deep red-orange color and a sweeter taste than common yellow turmeric. The variety is prized for its high curcumin content, which can be 4 to 5 times higher than yellow turmeric. Like yellow turmeric it has culinary, ornamental, and therapeutic value. Harvesting: Rhizomes are ready to harvest after 8-10 months, when the leaves begin to yellow and die back.
